Blind Expectant Mother is Able to ‘See’ Her Unborn Son With 3D Print of Ultrasound

3D printing technology can do some pretty incredible things, but this might just be the most heartwarming.

Like many expectant mothers these days, 30-year-old Tatiana Guerra of Brazil wanted to get a glimpse of her baby through ultrasound during her pregnancy. Only one problem: Guerra has been blind since she was 17 years old, so she was unable to partake in the joy of seeing her still unborn baby.

Technology to the rescue.

After arriving for a routine ultrasound during her 20th week of pregnancy, Guerra’s doctor produced a 3D rendering of the baby’s face based on the images from the ultrasound.

The mother was able to feel the sculpture sculpture of the baby’s face and, understandably, burst into tears of joy.

No description necessary, doctor.
