Audi’s Super Bowl Spot Powerfully Tackles Gender Equality

Let’s be honest: One of the best parts about the Super Bowl is the commercials.

Whether they deliver ample LOLs or politically-charged messaging, we can all agree that the pricy Super Bowl advertising real estate offers at least a quarter of the event’s entertainment value.

One of the best spots we’ve seen so far this year comes from Audi.

The commercial offers a powerful message about gender equality.

It opens on a cart race, where we see a young girl as she prepares to battle against male competitors. It features the thoughts of her father – who looks on from the crowd – via voiceover, as he wonders what he should tell his daughter.

“Do I tell her that her grandpa is worth more than her grandma?,” he questions.

“That her dad is worth more than her mom? Do I tell her that despite her education, her drive, her skills, her intelligence, she will automatically be valued as less than every man she ever meets? Or maybe, I’ll be able to tell her something different.”

In the ad, Audi stresses their commitment to gender equality and closing the wage gap.

The spot ends on an inspirational note: “Progress for everyone.”
